Paris Is Awful or Beatiful?

A few years ago, my family went on a vacation to Paris, France for my mother’s birthday. We started packing the luggage 2 weeks in advance. We travelled by a TGV, high speed train which can go up to 320 km/h. It was quite a smooth ride from Luxembourg to Paris, which was only about 1 and a half hours.

When we arrived there, I did not like it at all, maybe it was I was exhausted and bored already. To me, it looked like any other large city, grey, boring, and monotonous. I read a rather numerous amounts of reviews that people have left about Paris, they were saying wonderful things about the city however, I did not see why Paris is actually so popular.

It was the end of the summer, and to be honest with you, I was extremely anxious of the idea of going to a new school, in a new country, without any knowledge of the the languages, and at that time I could barely even speak English.  The thought of that gave me a sick feeling in the stomach for the whole summer.

Anyways, back to the story. So, we have settled in the hotel, unpacked the luggage, and went on the first walk around the city. At that time, the sun was already settling, and Paris started to reveal its true colors.

Oh boy, how wrong was my first impression of the city. Unlike the daytime, Paris looks fantastic in nighttime, there are no more boring crowds, there are no streets busy with cars, it is just you and the city. Walking along the river Seine, was probably the most beautiful thing. There were small boats going somewhere, loads of restaurants busy with people and at that time you could see what all the other people see in this city.

To be honest I also loved the architecture of the city. Most of the buildings were built after the Napoleon times and before the World War 1, they really show the full history of the city, and I think that the government made a good choice keeping the old buildings.

Nevertheless, we celebrated my mother’s birthday the next day, and we left a few days after.

In my opinion, Paris is one of the most boring cities during the day, however during the night the city reveals its true colors and charms you with them.
