Everybody needs somebody,
Do they not?
Someone to talk to,
Someone to carry them through the tunnel to the light on the other side,
Someone to notice their red eyes and tear streaked face,
Someone to see them rush to the bathroom at the end of every meal,
Someone to ask how they can sleep all day and still be tired,
Someone to wonder how my cat can scratch in perfect parallel lines,
A friend,
But why would I want that?
Why would I wish the pain of broken trust upon my already fractured heart,
Why would I await abandonment,
Why add another person to my sad and lonely world,
Because ironically,
I’m for once enough for me.
